Solskjaer tells Sanchez, Lukaku to grab opportunities

Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United will get all the help they need to improve their shape, but it's up to them to take their chances on the pitch, said Friday caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In the Premier League this season, Sanchez scored only one goal with injuries and a patchy form that limited him to five starts, while Lukaku with six goals in 16 appearances.

Before the game against Bournemouth on Sunday, Solskjaer was asked whether he could have an impact on his front men just as he did with midfielder Paul Pogba, who scored twice and made two assists in the last two games under the Norwegian.

Pogba was struggling to influence games under former boss Jose Mourinho this season in the midst of a reported divide between the pair, but the winner of the French World Cup played under Solskjaer, who supported his team to express himself.

Lukaku, Sanchez and Anthony Martial all trained on Thursday after missing Wednesday's 3-1 league win over Huddersfield Town, while defender Chris Smalling is likely to be out until the game at Tottenham Hotspur on Jan. 13.

United are sixth in the table with 32 points from 19 games.
