No Woods, but seven of the top eight in the world will be in Maui.

Seven of the top eight players in the world rankings will contest the Sentry Champions Tournament next week on the PGA Tour, but Tiger Woods won't say' Aloha' to Hawaii golf fans.

There was speculation Woods would play in Kapalua, but he was not on the final championship list of 34 players released by the Friday tournament.

Instead, Woods chose to extend his holiday season for a few weeks instead of teeing it up in Maui, where he hasn't been playing since 2005.

With his win at the Tour Championship in September, he qualified for the winners-only tournament. It seems now likely that the 14-time champion will start his 2019 campaign at the Torrey Pines Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego on January 24- 27.

Despite the absence of Woods, the 34-man Kapalua field, led by defending champion Dustin Johnson and world leader Brooks Koepka, will be charged with talent.

Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy will also make his debut at the event, seeking a quick start to his year off.

British Open Champion Francesco Molinari from Italy is also competing for the event for the first time after qualifying.
