Nurini Kassim appointed as new Bernama CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Communication and Multimedia Minister Gobind Deo Singh today announced the appointment of Nurini Kassim as the new CEO of Bernama.

Nurini takes over the position of Datuk Zulkefli Salleh, who completed his term on Oct 3, on a two-year term beginning in Jan 1, 2019.

"Nurini has 20 years of extensive experience in management in various industries, including government institutions, financial regulations, information technology, and public relations and corporate affairs.

"I believe the combination of the new CEO, the board of governors, the supervisory council and the editorial team, led by Zakaria Abdul Wahab, will take Bernama to greater heights," said Gibind.

The 55 year-old Nurini holds an MBA from the University of Hull, United Kingdom and has been the Head of Corporate Affairs Department of the Employees Provident Fund since October 2015.

She also has 15 years of experience at the Securities Commision of Malaysia, where she leaded various divisions including the Corporate Affairs Department, Secretariat for the Capital Market Development and the Capital Market Promotions Unit.

Other than that, she also has experience serving in multinational technology companies, including as marketing manager of Sapura Systems Malaysia (1994-1997) and as project consultant of Hewlett-Packard Sales Malaysia (1990-1994).
