Comeback from Tigers to stay on the hunt

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Football Team had to make a comeback from two goals down to hold Vietnam 2-2 in the first leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final in Bukit Jalil tonight.

Malaysia's poor start at the beginning of the game gave Vietnam two earlt goals through Nguyen Huy Hung and Pham Duc Huy after 25 minutes.

The Tigers kept their composure and hit back with a goal from Shahrul Saad in the 36th minute. In the second half, Malaysia kept their dominance and scored the equaliser in the 56th minute with a beatiful free kick from Safawi Rasid.

Vietnam's however were techtically determined and relied on quick counters to penetrate Malaysia's defence.

Malaysia will need to raise up their game in the crucial second leg in Hanoi on Saturday in order to become champion, with Vietnam's two away-goals proved to be a challenge for the Tigers.

The last time Malaysia won the cup was in 2010, where they beat Indonesia in a thriller match with Safee Sali, Safiq Rahim and Khairul Fahmi in their line-ups.
