The apparent friendliness between Sultan Ibrahim Ibn Sultan Iskandar and Tun Dr. Mahathir was seen when the Johor ruler personally drove the prime minister to the airport before getting on his flight back to Kuala Lumpur.
Driving a blue-coloured Proton Saga with the "Proton 1" plate number, the car was a gift from Dr Mahathir himself to Sultan Ibrahim's father, the late Sultan Iskandar Ibn Sultan Ismail, 34 years ago during the sultan's reign as Yang-Dipertuan Agong.
