Najib Slams Maszlee For Reducing The Budget For The Supplementary Food Programme in Budget 2019

Petaling Jaya: Former Malaysia's PM, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said that Malaysia already has a similar scheme to the free breakfast plan that the Education Minister, Maszlee Malik announced is being considered for children in B40 group.

Najib slammed Maszlee for his lack of studies in his own working areas and only focusing on petty issues such as the color of school shoes.

"Perhaps he was too preoccupied with the colour of his students' uniforms that he forgot that the Pakatan Harapan government has reduced the budget for the Supplementary Food Programme in Budget 2019," added Najib.

Through Najib's Facebook post, he slammed Mazlee's latest announcement which was made during the Education Minister's working visit to the Itabashi Daiichi Elementary School, in Itabashi-ku, Tokyo, on Monday.

"The government, through Education Ministry had been carrying out the Supplementary Food Programme since 1979 and as an Education Minister, he should have known better." Said Najib.

According to Najib, under the old scheme, the previous government used to give RM2.50 per day to students in Peninsular Malaysia and RM3 per day for students in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.

He said Dr Maszlee did not need to go to Japan or look East to get inspiration, but should spend more time studying the Ministry's operations.
